World No. 1 An Se-young recently appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” where she shared the intense discipline and self-management that keep her at the top of women’s singles badminton.
An Se-young said her condition has improved significantly this year as she has had fewer injuries, adding that her confidence is growing. Jokingly, she mentioned that when she’s in peak form, “the shuttlecock looks slower,” drawing laughter from the hosts.
She also confirmed that she still undergoes high-intensity training, including running with a weighted vest on sand dunes when needed. On top of training, she studies English early in the morning as part of her routine.
Her strict eating habits drew the most attention. An Se-young shared that during competitions she avoids dairy and raw foods, focusing on balanced meals containing carbohydrates, protein, and fats. She added that she rarely eats fried food due to the long season, revealing she only had it once last year during the year-end break.
Despite the demanding lifestyle, she remains committed and focused — a testament to the discipline behind her success.
