South Korea’s top men’s doubles pair, Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae, captured their ninth title of the year at the French Open Super 750, matching the legendary feat of Indonesia’s former world No. 1 duo, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo — famously known as the “Minions.”
With more tournaments still to come this season, the Korean pair are now on track to surpass the Minions’ 2018 record of nine titles in a single year.
In the final, Kim and Seo, the top seeds, came from behind to defeat Indonesia’s world No. 25 pair Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto 10-21, 21-13, 21-12. This marked their third consecutive victory over the Indonesians since their initial defeat.
“The Indonesian players played really well, especially with their net control. At one point, we were trailing,” said Kim Won Ho after the match.
Seo Seung Jae added, “They hit some very powerful smashes. All I could do was keep defending and fight until the shuttle hit the floor — we never gave up on any rally.”
This victory is their ninth title of the 2025 season and their fifth Super 750 win. Seo expressed his pride at matching such a prestigious record.
“It’s an honor to be compared with such a legendary pair. There are still tournaments left this year, and we’ll keep pushing for even better results,” he said.
