South Korea’s An Se Young continues her remarkable dominance in world badminton, capturing her third French Open title after a commanding 21-13, 21-7 victory over China’s Wang Zhi Yi in the women’s singles final.
The 23-year-old Olympic champion sealed the win in just 42 minutes, earning her ninth title of 2025 — putting her just two shy of Kento Momota’s record of 11 titles in a single season.
With this win, An also made history at the Glaz Arena as the first women’s singles player in the BWF World Tour era to achieve a French Open hat-trick.
“I can’t describe how I feel,” said An in her post-match interview with the Badminton World Federation. “I’m proud of myself. Self-belief is the best weapon you can have during those moments.”
Meanwhile, compatriots Kim Won Ho and Seo Seung Jae added to South Korea’s glory by staging a thrilling comeback to beat Indonesia’s Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Shohibul Fikri 9-21, 21-13, 21-12 in the men’s doubles final.
