South Korean badminton beauty Chae Yu Jung has officially announced her retirement, marking the end of a remarkable 15-year journey with the national team.
The 29-year-old confirmed her decision after bowing out of the 2025 French Open mixed doubles with partner Lee Jong Min. In an emotional Instagram post, Chae shared that she had been contemplating retirement since early this year, citing the difficulty of transitioning from mixed to women’s doubles.
“I’ve given everything for the past 15 years — training hard, playing my best matches, and having no regrets,” she wrote. “Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, and fans for standing by me.”
Chae leaves behind an incredible legacy — highlighted by the 2023 World Championships gold with Seo Seung Jae, Sudirman Cup 2017, and Asian Games 2022 victories. Her partnership with Seo once reached World No. 2 and captured major titles including the China Open, Korea Masters, and Australian Open.
A graceful farewell from one of badminton’s most elegant and passionate stars.
