Goh Sze Fei–Nur Izzuddin (DinFei) have returned to Malaysia and are training with the national squad as part of their preparation for upcoming home tournaments.
Men’s doubles coaching director Herry Iman Pierngadi revealed that DinFei personally reached out to Rexy Mainaky, requesting to train twice a week with the national team to sharpen their readiness for home games, including the Malaysian Open.
“I’m happy to let them join. This should be part of their preparation — perhaps they want higher-quality sparring in training,” said Herry.
The pair began training with the squad on Wednesday and were also involved on Friday. Sessions are currently scheduled for next week on Wednesday and Saturday. For now, the collaboration is confirmed for two weeks, with no long-term decision made yet.
However, Herry indicated the partnership could continue, especially with the Thomas Cup Finals (April 24 – May 3) approaching.
“I think this is a good collaboration because their level is comparable to some of our top national pairs. Both sides will benefit, and they will follow our existing training programmes,” he added.
A positive step as Malaysia builds momentum toward major team events.
