The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) is actively scouting new talent through its ongoing Talent Identification (TID) program, aiming to rebuild a strong men’s singles lineup capable of competing at the highest level, including the World Tour Finals.
This comes after Malaysia failed to qualify any men’s singles shuttler for the 2025 World Tour Finals in Hangzhou from December 17–21 — a sharp contrast to the eras of Lee Chong Wei and Lee Zii Jia, who consistently carried the nation’s challenge.
BAM secretary Goh Chin Keong acknowledged the struggles faced by the men’s singles department this year and emphasized that efforts are underway to identify and develop future stars.
He shared the update following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Badminton Asia Federation and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union in Kuala Lumpur.
Goh added that the TID program will continue this week and next week, with the goal of discovering players who can excel not only at junior level but also transition successfully into senior competitions.
