Legendary coach Datuk Misbun Sidek has been impressed by the new wave of men’s singles talents making waves globally — and he’s urging Malaysia’s stars like Lee Zii Jia to catch up.
Among those catching his eye are Singapore’s Jason Teh 🇸🇬 and India’s Ayush Shetty 🇮🇳, both tall, powerful players already winning major titles. Misbun also praised Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan and France’s Popov brothers for bringing aggression and confidence to the world stage.
“Jason and Ayush have the height and attacking edge. The French boys are making Asian players sweat,” said Misbun. “Meanwhile, our players seem to have stalled. It’s time to rediscover that spark.”
With Leong Jun Hao leading Malaysia at world No. 22 and Zii Jia struggling with form, Misbun hopes they’ll bounce back stronger. “Every player faces lows, but champions rise again,” he added.
