Three titles, six finals — and the hunger still burns for Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik.
The world No. 2 duo added another impressive result to their season after finishing runners-up at the Arctic Open, pushing England’s Ben Lane-Sean Vendy to the limit before falling 18-21, 27-25, 17-21 in a thrilling final.
Despite the narrow loss, Aaron and Wooi Yik’s 2025 campaign remains exceptional — featuring victories at the Asian Badminton Championships, Thailand Open, and Singapore Open, alongside consistent podium finishes.
Head coach Herry Iman Pierngadi praised the pair’s performance but urged them to maintain their drive.
“They shouldn’t be too quick to feel satisfied. Consistency and focus are key as more tournaments await,” said Herry.
The duo will now turn their attention to the Denmark Open, where they open against Indonesia’s Rian Ardianto-Rahmat Hidayat.
Aaron expressed his appreciation to his team, saying, “Thank you to Wooi Yik, Coach Herry, and the support staff. We’ll move forward and fight back stronger.”
